Prepared and ready

How important is it to be prepared?  When you look at the future, did you prepare contingencies if everything does not go as planned?  I hope so.  For most of us, this is the difference between being excellent and being merely good.  If you happen to do designs for FDA, you better have that risk management sheet done! There goes the audit if you do not.

Today, preparation has a different meaning to me.  My son, Chris, has spent the last 3 years preparing to lead men and women onto the battle field and “render harmless” explosive devices.  He boarded a plane last night and is heading into one of the global spots where this skill is critical.  Being in the Navy, he had to prepare for land, sea and air types of explosive devices.  He will head into a non-secure area soon and will need to identify and eliminate the threat of explosion.

So, preparing for the worst possible scenario is critical.

Another thing you will notice about those who prepare for the contingencies in the plan.  They seem to think faster than the rest of us.  The decisions are easier.  They stand up and lead with confidence.  They help those around them succeed.

I have decided to restart my blog and write something each week that fits with leadership, marketing, or some life observation as a way to stay connected to Chris while he is helping and protecting others.  I would ask that you keep Chris in your thoughts and prayers.  Also, if you think that there is a subject I should do a riff on, let me know.  My goal is to keep this short, concise and worthy of thought.
